Denyshi is a small village near Zhytomyr with several interesting and beautiful places nearby. On the other side of the Teteriv river there are ruins of the Tereshchenko estate (late XIX century). Rocky banks near the dam are popular among climbers of all levels. In the village of Trygirja nearby is a monastery, which offers nice views from its territory. All of these places are close by, so you can come here and just walk for an hour or two, stay for a night in a tent or have a rest in the "Denyshi" balneocomplex sanatorium.
Getting there: Denyshi is 20 km away from Zhytomyr. From Kyiv to Zhytomyr you can get by minibus from the Zhytomyrska metro station (2 hours, $5-6). At the bus station in Zhytomyr change to a minibus #109, which runs to the "Denyshi" sanatorium every hour ($1). Ask to stop near the dam ("plotina" or "damba"), one stop before the endpoint.
