In Rüdesheim most travelers begin their journey across the unique region Middle Rhine Valley. This is one of the "traditional" German towns. 10,000 people live here, but every year the town is visited by more than 3 million people. Rüdesheim is the most popular town in Germany by the number of tourists per capita. Since the town itself is small, it's a good idea to come here early in the morning and see the town, but not the crowds.

The most famous street of the town is Drosselgasse, which is 144 meters long. There are numerous wineries and restaurants here, as Rüdesheim is one of the wine capitals of Germany. You can ensure that by travelling on the cable car (schedule and prices) over the grape fields to the 38-meter statue of Germany. It reminds about foundation of the German Empire in 1871. The monument offers a great view of the Rhine, but it's not as picturesque as the view from the Loreley cliff.
