In the forest near Berlin there is an interesting abandoned hospital complex, consisting of more than 60 buildings. It was originally planned as a sanatorium for Berlin workers, but subsequently came under the control of the military. During the First and Second World Wars, it was the main hospital in the region. In 1916, Adolf Hitler was treated here, he was injured in the leg on the battlefield.

In the postwar years, was captured by the Soviet military and continued to operate. After the reunification of Germany and the withdrawal of Soviet troops in 1994, the hospital was abandoned, although several buildings are still operating. They conduct research and rehabilitation of patients with Parkinson's disease.

Some buildings were bought and converted into apartments (https://www.refugium-beelitz.de/), but basically the complex is rented out to cafes and movie makers. In general, the place is very unusual and interesting. Many buildings have not lost their beauty and are waiting for reconstruction.

A ramp for walking was built above one of the buildings and over the tree crowns, in German such attractions are called Baumkronenpfad. It offers great views over the  hospital.

It is curious how the buildings were captured by nature, even in Chornobyl this is still not happened.

Despite the fact that this is the dream of an urban explorer, be careful: in the closed parts of the complex, motion sensors and security are everywhere.

The area near the ramp was turned into a public space with a cafe and places for relaxation.
