At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, towers in honour of Otto von Bismarck were built throughout Germany. A total of about two hundred were built, and this time we visited the Bismarck Tower near Bodenwerder, built in 1913. It is located within the city limits and can be reached on foot from the centre in 40-50 minutes, though it is better to go by car.

The money for the tower was collected by local residents, and it was built by an architect from Hanover. The tower offers a beautiful view of Bodenwerder and the Weser River valley. Importantly, you can also enjoy this view even from the foot of the tower if it is closed for any reason.

There is also a launch pad for paragliders near the tower.
