Bismarck Tower in Göttingen (Bismarckturm)

The Göttingen City Forest (Stadtwald) is a great place to spend time with children. We were primarily interested in the Bismarck Tower. After parking the car, we didn't go straight to the tower, but first looked at the deer, which we found here at 51.526000, 9.981528, and here 51.524000, 9.984417 there are also squirrels. Near the car park, there is also the Göttinger Biergarten am Kehr, where you can grab a bite to eat..






At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, towers in honour of Otto von Bismarck were built throughout Germany. A total of about two hundred were built. The tower in Göttingen appeared in 1896 and became one of the first such structures in Germany.

An easy path leads from the car park to the tower, approximately 650 metres away. Please note the opening hours and bear in mind that there is an admission fee to enter the tower




















On the other side of the city forest is Schillerwiesen Park. There you can walk along the stream and visit an excellent playground. Parking: 51.534917, 9.958139.
