Cool rocks near the town of Harzgerode in the Harz Mountains. The word ‘Klus’ in Old German means ‘hermit's cell’, which is where the name comes from, as hermit monks lived here in caves in the Middle Ages. The rooms were probably built as early as the 10th–11th centuries.

On the way from the car park, you will first see the Five Fingers Rocks (Fünffingerfelsen). We did not approach them and looked at them from the main rocks.

Walk a little further and you will see the most interesting rocks. You need to go around them and look for a path up behind the rocks. Getting to the top will not be easy; we even had our doubts at first. But then we started looking for options and managed to climb up. As you might have guessed, we went there without our daughter because it was too dangerous.

This photo was taken from a drone, but you can see the rocks from several viewing points. Here they are, near Hauptweg -
