Our rating: 4.20
Overall rating:

Kekova is a small island in the Mediterranean. Known for the ruins of the ancient city Dolihiste, which was destroyed by an earthquake in the II century BC. Subsequently, the island belonged to the Byzantine Empire and attacked by Arabs. In the XIII century was conquered by the Turks. After the First World War had a long territorial disputes with Italy, and finally withdrew in 1932 after Turkey.

Overall, the tour is more like a boat trip as the city flooded and seen only a small part of it. Everything you will see looks like this.

Tourists usually visit Kekova during a tour Demre - Myra - Kekova.

Getting there: the ancient city can be reached only by boats that depart from Kas or Kalkan about 10 am (22-25 euros). You can also go on a trip including kayaks, then you can examine the ruins of the city much better. The closest tourist village to the island is Üçağız (Uchagiz, Kaleüçağız). It is located just 3 km from the Kekova by water. If you have a car or a scooter, then it is most convenient way, but renting a boat here is more expensive. Üçağız can be reached by taxi from Demre or Kas.
